Ginger Pear Muffins with Honey Glaze

For the Gingered Pear Muffins

2-½ cups all-purpose flour

1-½ teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon kosher salt

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cup honey

½ cup (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter, softened

2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger

2 eggs

½ cup whole milk

1 Bosc pear, peeled, cored and chopped

¾ cup chopped pecans

For the Honey Glaze

1 cup sifted confectioners sugar

¼ cup honey

¼ cup whole milk


  1. Make the Gingered Pear Muffins: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and nutmeg until well combined.
  2. In st anding mixer fitted with paddle attachment, cream honey, butter and ginger until light and fluffy. Add eggs and milk; beat until well combined. Add flour mixture; beat until just combined. Fold in pears and pecans.
  3. Line 20 muffin cups with paper liners; divide batter evenly between muffin cups. Transfer to oven; bake 18 to 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of muffins comes out clean. Cool muffins in pan on wire rack 5 minutes. Remove muffins from pan and transfer to wire rack to cool completely before glazing.
  4. Make the Honey Glaze: In medium bowl, whisk together sugar, honey and milk. Spoon glaze over muffins.
